Sized 2.0.0
Stablereleased this
2026-10-10 13:35:01 -04:00 | 1 commits to main since this releaseSized 2.0.0 — storage, straight from your terminal.
Sized now uses the same pinned Rust scanner as SizeQueen. The exact core snapshot is included in the public source, so builds need no access to the private core forge. All features remain free.
What changed
- Hard-linked files contribute allocated blocks once, in deterministic order; apparent sizes remain per pathname.
- Incomplete scans retain useful results but return exit status 1 and explicit JSON completeness. Missing paths no longer look like successful empty scans.
- Ignore rules inherit through directories.
--one-file-systemprovides an explicit mount boundary. - Rust callers get structured diagnostics, cooperative cancellation and progress. Public API changes are documented in Upgrading to 2.0.
Choose your download
- Apple silicon Mac:
sized-v2.0.0-aarch64-apple-darwin.dmg. Developer ID signed, notarized and stapled. Tested on macOS 26.6.2; deployment target macOS 11. Older-system and fresh-Mac acceptance remain pending. - Linux x86-64:
sized-v2.0.0-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz. - Linux ARM64:
sized-v2.0.0-aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu.tar.gz. - Both Linux builds are tested on Debian 12 with Rust 1.88.0 and require glibc 2.36 or newer. These are not Alpine/musl packages.
- Matching offline source:
sized-v2.0.0-source.tar.gz, including the exact core, locked registry dependencies, original notices and build instructions. Rust 1.88+ and a target C linker/toolchain are required. From its root:cargo build --locked --offline --release.
Each binary package includes the manual, shell completions, complete runtime/build dependency notices and source provenance. Verify downloads with
SHA256SUMS. The host binaries use system libraries; Intel Mac, Windows, Homebrew and distribution-specific installers are outside this release.Install
Open the Mac disk image, or extract your Linux archive. In Terminal, enter that directory (on a Mac:
cd "/Volumes/Sized 2.0.0"), then:mkdir -p "$HOME/.local/bin" "$HOME/.local/share/man/man1" install -m 755 sized "$HOME/.local/bin/sized" install -m 644 sized.1 "$HOME/.local/share/man/man1/sized.1" "$HOME/.local/bin/sized" --versionInclude
~/.local/bininPATH. Sized is a CLI, not a double-click desktop app. It only scans paths you request and has no deletion command. Filesystem allocation can differ from bytes recovered after deletion because of snapshots or shared extents.Verification and source

Mac tests, strict Clippy, empty-cache offline source compilation, signed-DMG installation and fixture scanning pass. Both Linux architectures pass tests, real mount boundaries, strict Clippy and extracted-package checks from the matching source archive with networking disabled. Gitea push CI and PR CI pass.GPL-3.0-only, without warranty. Third-party notices retain their respective licences. Historical v1.0.0 files remain unchanged.
